Another year, another San Diego Comic Con completed.

Throughout this post I will reference KPop Demon Hunters as KPDH. And for San Diego Comic Con, SDCC.

Shopping #

I did some shopping this year, probably more so than any previous year I’ve gone. It wasn’t so much for me, but for friends and family.

I really liked the KPDH stickers from Naoko Mullallyy (@naybacca). I bought three sets from her. If you’re interested in her stuff, please check out Naybacca’s Etsy store. The stuff that sold out should be up on there!

Last year I checked out the Pop Mart booth on preview night, and it wasn’t all that busy. This year, completely different story.

The Labubu craze is real. The Funko Pops I saw at the smaller vendors were replaced by Labubus.

LEGO Con Booth #

I really loved the LEGO booth this year. I love this homage to Comic Con.

I do regret that I only visited them only on Wednesday, during preview night. I wish I spent more time there taking pictures because it was just amazing.

Just a few days before, our family spent some time at Legoland, specifically the water park.

Other Booths #

I’ve noticed that the bigger booths, say from Marvel or DC, have converted more booth real estate to sell merchandise.

I only took a few photos this year of cosplays I saw. I was suprised with how many KPDH cosplays I saw considering the Netflix movie was only out for a month before Comic Con.

Below are the panels I attended. The original schedule I made through Sched.com I ended up ditching nearly half of it because I wanted to spend more time with my niece and nephew.

I loved Collider’s Directors on Directors panel. This year they had Rob Reiner and Paul Feig.

The Jim Shooter and Jurassic Park panels I just ended up wandering into because they were near the Hospitality suite. Check out the The Legal Geeks, and their post: The Legal Geeks Return to SDCC for Jurassic Park and Daredevil Born Again Panels, for recordings of their panels.

I got a full screenings of Alien Earth (first episode) and The Legend of Kingdom Come (documentary, their website).

Resources #

The best resource for learning about SDCC is the SDCC Unofficial Blog and the SDCC Unofficial Blog youtube. Their discord is no more for some unfortunate reasons (see third link below).

Final Thoughts #

Overall, I had a good comic con with family and friends.

I wish the Comic Con app was better. It was just horrible and more or less was their website, which is also rather terrible. Every year I create a new Sched account to create/sync a schedule for SDCC.

I think Comic Con without the Marvel and WB (Game of Thrones), is a return to a more reasonable convention where people don’t spend their entire day(s) waiting to get into Hall H. In many ways I like it this way, but also miss it because I like the big announcements/panels from the studios. If there aren’t 5,000 people in Hall H, and another thousand waiting out in line, then they are elsewhere, like the exhibit hall.

There are so many ways to enjoy Comic Con. You can do panels, big panels (Hall H or Ballrooom 20), exhibit halls, offsite/outside Comic Con events, game rooms, cosplay, special parties, etc.

There’s no wrong way to enjoy SDCC– well, unless you stab someone near his eye with a pen. I was there that year (2010) and remembered this news when it broke.

If you are a fan of something, there’s probably something for you at San Diego Comic Con.
